Philadelphia Prisons

Philadelphia, PA

Looking to reduce their solid waste cost and increase the recycling diversion rates, O2Compost assisted the Philadelphia Prisons system with compost system design and training (largely operated by prison inmates). The finished compost product is donated to community gardens, schools and churches, and it is used on the prison campus. The compost will also be used in their "Planned Orchard Program" (186 fruit bearing trees). Laura C. says the community loves the finished compost, the EPA likes it, and we are on our way to reducing the City of Philadelphia's solid waste costs.
