For Horse Owners

All horse owners ask the same question: “OH MY GOD - What do I do with all of this manure?”

Options Include:

  • Building a large pile out behind the barn – but that will lead to impacts to surface and ground water resources and will likely be a source of odors and flies; or
  • Paying for a roll-off container – but they come with a sizable monthly disposal fee and they’re generally U.G.L.Y.; or
  • Composting the manure to create a value added product – the Ideal Solution.

O2Compost is recognized as the leading expert in the field of on-farm composting. All of our systems utilize the Aerated Static Pile Method of Composting. By inducing airflow through the compost pile, we eliminate the need to turn the pile, thereby saving a considerable amount of time and expense.

By maintaining aerobic conditions throughout the first 30 days of composting, the pile gets quite hot and this heat effectively destroys pathogens, parasites and weed seeds in the mix. In addition, the nutrients (carbon and nitrogen) are converted over to stable, plant available forms. This approach to composting also eliminates offensive odors and flies.

Ultimately, all of our compost systems expedite the composting process such that you will produce a finished product in 30 to 60 days. All of this without turning the compost pile.
