Whatcom County Farm

Blaine, WA

This is a grant-funded project through Whatcom Conservation District. Karen P. has one horse and one mini on pellet bedding. She uses an aluminum ATV ramp to easily dump the manure into the bins. For better traction, Karen added plywood with a strip of rolled asphalt in the center. The plywood Micro-Bin lids are coated with rubberized roofing paint and, so far, haven't blown off in the wind. She had planned to sell the finished compost but has been spreading it on the fields with her Newer Spreader instead. Karen admits she still has much to learn about the process, but says "... it certainly looks much better than Eco Blocks!"
