Each year in October, Dr. Rhonda Sherman hosts a Vermi-Culture Conference at North Carolina State University. As part of the conference, Rhonda includes demonstrations of various stages in the vermi-composting process. This picture shows a free-standing aerated static pile in the process of being constructed. ASP Composting is used to "pre-compost" the feedstocks for 10 to 14 days, with the goal of eliminating pathogens, parasites and weed seeds from the mix prior to introducing it to the worms.
