Haven x Campise Farms

Dripping Springs, TX

This is a small horse rescue property that needed a way to efficiently discard manure and organic material. These aerated bays compost hemp bedding, a mixture of hay varieties, and manure from seven full size horses, two mini horses, and five goats. Since the rescue uses organic feeds, hay, and bedding the system produces high-quality compost. The finished product is sold to the community, and the excess is spread on the farm pastures. Barn Manager, Devyn, reports "It definitely took some time to figure out the balance to get the correct temperature within the piles, and [we found] adding a cap of finished compost really helps keep the bugs down. Overall, the system is really cool and provides a very unique way to "ripen" maure and other organic material to a usable compost in a very quick and relatively sellf operable process."
