Elm Farm

Woodstock, CT

The construction of this aerated bay system was facilitated by the Eastern Connecticut Conservation District and it is completely solar powered. Elm Farm composts dairy cattle mortalities and spreads the finished compost onto their fields. They are also composting cow manure and spent feedstuffs and plan to start bagging and selling the compost to the public in 2017. Owner Matt P. says "I like the simplicity of the O2 system. It is nice to be able to take the waste manure and hay (which is hard material to spread on the land) and turn it into a product that we can sell."
