Quaker Smith Point

Shelburne, VT

When Cathy W. is asked about her O2 Compost system, she says without hesitation “I LOVE IT”. Because of the extreme cold winter conditions, Cathy added heat coils to the side walls of her bins to keep the manure from freezing, and this has allowed her to continue composting throughout the year without interruption. She has four draught horses (“equivalent to eight normal horses”) and she says that people cannot believe that her composter is full of manure. “It doesn’t smell, there are no flies, and the best thing is that it is simple and easy to operate”. All of the finished compost goes to the nearby Shelburne Market Garden.
